At Paste.CoShareX, we believe privacy is the default state of the web. This policy outlines how we handle data when you paste, save, and share text and code on our platform.

Data We Collect and Store

Because you do not need to create an account, we do not collect personal identifiers. When you save a snippet, we store:

  • Snippet Content: The text, code, logs, notes, or configuration files you paste.
  • Configuration Settings: Document visibility status (Public, Protected, or Private) and timestamps (created, updated).
  • Cryptographic Hashes: If you secure a document, we store a secure, cryptographic hash of your access code. We never store plain text passcodes.

What We Do Not Collect

We do not collect or associate your pastes with:

  • Your name, email address, or physical address.
  • Your IP address, browser fingerprint, or geolocation metadata.
  • Third-party tracker identifiers.

Pastes Visibility & Search Engine Indexing

We support three document states, each determining access and crawler index rules:

  • Public: Anyone with the URL can read the snippet. These documents are eligible for search engine indexing.
  • Protected: Anyone with the URL can read the snippet, but editing requires the correct passcode. These documents are eligible for search engine indexing.
  • Private: Access to view or edit requires the correct passcode. Private documents are set to noindex and are programmatically excluded from search engine index results.

Data Deletion and Retention

Any document can be modified or deleted by someone possessing its edit passcode. We retain document data as long as the service remains active, or until a document is deleted by the creator or retired due to inactivity.

Cookies and Analytics

We do not use tracking cookies, marketing pixels, or third-party analytics trackers. We use the browser's local storage strictly to preserve layout preferences (such as light or dark theme toggles) and maintain your local session state.

We may refine this policy to reflect changes in our services or security practices. Any modifications will be posted directly to this page with an updated effective date.
